 Endurance Health and Fitness
Endurance Health and Fitness is operated by three time Ironman Champion Melissa Spooner. Melissa Spooners offers coaching for Ironman, 1/2 Ironman and Marathon Training, in addition to Nutritional Consulting, Clinics and one on one training. Mel was first introduced to Triathlon in 1993 when she volunteered at Ironman Canada. Never did she think that it would play such a large role in her life. She signed up for IM Canada for 1994(back then you could still do it in March!) and by 1995 she had set the 20-24 age group record that still stands today. Mel turned pro in 1996 and over the course of the next 7 years had the opportunity to race throughout the world and win 3 Ironman Championships(IM Lanzarote 1998, IM New Zealand 1999, IM USA 2000), and finish a personal best 4th at the World Championships in Hawaii 1998. Melissa first started coaching in 2000 and after she retired from professional racing in 2004 she developed the Nutriton program at Endurance Rehabilitation in Scottsdale, AZ. In the summer of 2006 Melissa and her husband along with their three cats made one more move back to Canada (hopefully their final move for a long long time!) to the city of Vernon. Sun Devil Masters Swimming (SDM) is a swim club for anyone interested in the benefits of swimming. We currently have about 160 members including beginning swimmers, fitness enthusiasts, triathletes, Masters national champions and world record holders, former NCAA champions, Olympic medalists and World Record Holders.
Everyone enjoys the benefits of structured workouts and professional coaching in a relaxed environment. Members must be 18 years of age or older and registered with the Arizona Local Masters Swim Committee (LMSC) of United States Masters Swimming (USMS). Swimmers range from their 20's to 80's in age and across all skill levels. Competition is voluntary. Workouts are scheduled conveniently and the friendly coaching staff has over 50 years experience and is very dedicated.
